Bajaj Platina 100: cheap to keep running
Every mechanic knows it and every shop has its parts. A service every 2,500 km costs about ৳800, and it does 60-70 km/l, for ৳1,46,114 on the road.

Why it wins
- Mechanic familiarity 10/10 and parts availability 10/10, the top of our scale. A breakdown in a district town is a short wait, not a trip to Dhaka.
- Reliability 8/10 and real-world mileage of 60-70 km/l from 7.9 PS, so fuel is a small part of the monthly bill.
- Against the cheaper Bajaj CT 100: the same Bajaj 100 cc engine family, but CBS (linked brakes), comfort 8/10 vs 6/10 and resale 7/10 vs 6/10, for ৳14,250 more.
Who it suits
- In our quiz, with the budget set at its own on-road price, it comes first for: commuting in a district town, some riding experience, a pillion now and then, with low maintenance and mileage as priorities.
- Riders who put a lot of kilometres on a bike every month and want each service and repair to be cheap and quick.
Trade-offs
- Drum brakes at both ends and tube tyres. CBS helps, but stopping distances are long and a puncture means a roadside repair. Keep your distance in the rain.
- 7.9 PS and a top speed of about 85 km/h: highway 5/10. It is a town bike; long highway runs with a pillion are slow work.
